Road trip to Manitoba?

My friend and I want to do some sort of trip this summer and we were thinking going to Manitoba (from toronto) But we need ideas ... how should we get there ... gas is expensive so does a bus go there or a train? greyhound wasnt very helpful ... also what to do once we are there .. i heard grand beach is great but any ideas would help ... and if we did drive how long would it take to get there thanks so much
